WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and Ben Cardin (D-Maryland), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released this statement.

“Senators Graham and Cardin led a bipartisan Senate delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and met the Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other senior government officials. The Senators appreciated the time and attention the Crown Prince gave the delegation. The delegation discussed strategic aspects of the U.S. - Saudi bilateral relationship. They reviewed recent developments in the region including the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas, and the need for humanitarian assistance to innocent Palestinians in Gaza. The delegation underscored the importance of addressing challenges in the region, including those that seek to undermine peace and recent positive developments in the Middle East. They committed to working together in advancing the two countries common interests in preserving and advancing the region’s stability, security, and prosperity.”

Joining Graham and Cardin on the bipartisan visit to Saudi Arabia were Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut), Cory Booker (D-New Jersey), Katie Britt (R-Alabama), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Chris Coons (D-Delaware), Jack Reed (D-Rhode Island), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), and John Thune (R-South Dakota).
