WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the House and Senate Intelligence Committees’ statements regarding wiretapping during the 2016 election.
“While I appreciate the House and Senate Intelligence Committees’ chairmen and ranking members putting out bipartisan statements indicating they have seen no evidence of surveillance of Trump Tower by the Obama Administration, I strongly believe that these statements by political leaders should not be a substitute for a public response from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice on this matter.
“It is entirely acceptable for DOJ and the FBI to make a simple statement that goes to the heart of the matter – without jeopardizing classified information.
“I believe such a statement would serve the public well, and I fear that without an official answer this issue will continue to linger.”
